At least 11 bodies were recovered from among the people swept away by the floodwaters in the Swat River on Friday, as reported by national media.
According to Rescue 1122 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa spokesperson Bilal Ahmed Faizi, 11 bodies have been recovered from among the people swept away by the floodwaters in the Swat River.
Of those who died, 9 were from the city of Sialkot in Punjab province, while 2 individuals belonged to Mardan. Two more people are still missing, and a search operation is ongoing to find them.
It should be remembered that this tragic incident occurred at a time when dozens of people visiting for recreation were present on the riverbank.
The water level in the Swat River suddenly rose, as a result of which many people were caught in the floodwaters, according to local sources.
Rescue teams immediately launched a relief operation, during which the bodies were recovered from the river. In view of the flood situation, the relevant authorities have issued instructions to tourists and local people to remain cautious and avoid going near the riverbank.
