Almost all major stars in the film industry have faced the casting couch at some point. Some stars showed the courage to speak out, while many remained silent. Indian actress Surveen Chawla has revealed her painful experience with the casting couch after her marriage.
According to details, the actress is currently in the spotlight for her show Criminal Justice 4, in which she is playing a significant role. Surveen Chawla is known for her outstanding acting and boldness. Once again, she has openly discussed the dark sides of the entertainment industry. She made some shocking revelations about the casting couch, including an incident where a director tried to kiss her after a meeting.
In an interview with The Male Feminist, Surveen Chawla spoke about being harassed several times both before and after her marriage. One specific incident involved a director who attempted to kiss her following a professional meeting.
Surveen shared, “I’ve faced the casting couch many times. Let me tell you a story from Veera Desai Road in Mumbai. After a meeting in his office cabin, the director came to drop me off at the gate. This happened when I was already married. The strange part was, we had even discussed this issue during the meeting.”
Recalling that moment, Surveen said, “He asked me how everything was going, what my husband does, and we were alone in his large office cabin. When I came to the door to leave, he leaned toward me and tried to kiss me. I had to push him away. I was shocked and asked him what he was doing, then I left.”
In a previous interview with RJ Siddharth Kannan, Surveen had shared that she was body-shamed during an audition. The actress said, “They told me I was too fat for South Indian films. Women in the industry are often misunderstood. They’re made to feel inferior because of their looks.”
