RAWALPINDI: A suicide bomber has was killed in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) against the proscribed Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP) terrorists in Tank area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces conducted an operation near Dial road, Tank after receiving confirmed intelligence reports over the presence of TTP terrorists in the area. During the operation, a suicide bomber was killed, while an operation is underway to eliminate abettors and accomplices of the terrorists.
A day earlier, security forces apprehended wanted TTP terrorist Allah Noor in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Sarwakai village of South Waziristan district. According to ISPR, the TTP terrorist was trying to escape while wearing a burqa. A huge cache of arms, ammunition, explosives, IEDs, mortars, grenades, and communication equipment was recovered from the terrorist hideout.
In another operation, LEAs recovered M-16 Rifles and Ammo at Makeen district of South Waziristan. Four individuals who were transporting weapons and ammunition to Dara Adam Khel were also apprehended, the ISPR added.
The report comes as TTP senior leader and Malakand commander, Mufti Burjan, who was seriously injured in an IED attack in Afghanistan’s Kunar province last month, has died.
The TTP commander and shadow governor for Malakand region was seriously injured while his driver got killed in an assassination attempt on January 19. He was undergoing treatment for his injuries in Jalalabad where he succumbed to his injuries. Mufti Burjan was a close aide of then TTP chief Mullah Fazlullah.
This is the second senior TTP leader killed in Afghanistan in the past two months. On January 10, TTP spokesperson, Khalid Balti alias Muhammad Khurasani, had been killed in Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province.
Khalid Balti was killed in an undisclosed location of Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province. He was appointed TTP spokesperson in 2014 after Shahidullah Shahid and was known for his anti-Pakistan stance.
Balti was reportedly operating a training camp for TTP terrorists in Miranshah. After the Operation Zarb-e-Azab by Pakistani armed forces, he fled to Afghanistan and later he was appointed as TTP spokesperson. He was involved in several terrorist attacks on innocent citizens and security personnel
