ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information, Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that strengthening women was the government’s “most important mission”.
Addressing an event in Islamabad today (Friday), Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan said that she will support the upcoming Aurat March as long as it doesn’t trample on Pakistan’s honour.
The Special Assistant said that the aim of the government was to make women independent.
She said that however, the government regrets that those people who are introducing slogans in media in order to empower women do not realise that the victims of that mindset were the women of the society.
She went on to ask that by marching and raising slogans that were not permitted by values, what kind of power do the marchers want?
Firdous Awan said that they will examine the people who possess these kinds of mindsets and were misleading the entire nation especially women.
Firdous Awan asserted that Constitution of Pakistan provides protection and rights to women.
