KARACHI: Stocks at Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) continued taking a battering today (Monday), pushing the benchmark index down almost 1,000 points by mid-day as rising COVID-19 cases rattled investors sentiment.
According to details, the KSE-100 index had lost 976.8 points, or 2.15 percent, at the time this report was compiled to reach 44,544.81 points. Oil and gas exploration companies were among the top losers.
Pakistan recorded 4,525 cases from COVID-19 as the situation worsen from the novel coronavirus and the government tightens restrictions and violations of safety precautions.
According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), the coronavirus has claimed 41 more lives across the country during the past 24 hours as the overall death toll reaches 14,256.
