PESHAWAR: Sonia Shamroz Khan Jadoon has been posted as District Police Officer (DPO) Lower Chitral, making her the first woman to serve in the position in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
She is the first female police officer to head the police in the district. She will be replacing the current DPO Abdul Hayee who has been posted at the Central Police Office (CPO).
Sonia Shamroz is a Grade-18 officer hailing from Abbottabad. She holds an MBA in human resource management and joined the Police Service of Pakistan in 2013.
In April 2019, she became the first woman principal appointed at the police training centre in Mansehra. She was previously posted as superintendent of police (SP) Abbottabad. She has ample experience in crime control, investigatioan and people contact.
Earlier this year, she was awarded a shooting fellowship in the United Kingdom and return in September. She also completed a course on violence against women and dispute resolution.
While speaking to a media outlet, Sonia Shamroz said she was proud to have been appointed as the first female DPO in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. She said it was a huge challenge to serve the entire district but she has been given the opportunity to serve the people and she will fulfill her responsibilities.
