LAHORE: In an unfortunate incident, a disobedient son injured his elderly mother with a sharp object and also chopped off her hair in Islampura area of Lahore.
According to police, Usman Shah, aged 27, attacked his mother with an iron rod and also trimmed her hair. The woman suffered severe injuries to her arms, legs and forehead.
The victim identified as Shehnaz Bibi was shifted to a hospital for medical treatment. Police have arrested the accused after a neighbour informed that she was severely tortured by her son.
Police said that they would proceed against the accused on the complaint of his mother. Local residents said that Usman used to torture his mother after the death of his father.
The elderly woman said she will forgive her son’s disobedience but does not want to live with him anymore. She said her son had tortured her and said she should be sent to any institution for elderly persons or widows.
Speaking to a local media outlet, Superintendent Police City Operations said the woman has refused to file a medico-legal certificate (MLC). They said they get the report from doctors and file a case.
A neighbour said Shehnaz Bibi was educated and possessed MA and LLB degrees. Her deceased husband was a Grade 18 officer in AG’s office. However, she has been facing a life of neglect after his death and is struggling to make ends meets.
Earlier the woman had filed an application to lodge a case against her only child Usman had tortured her. Police had immediately taken him into custody and said a case will be lodged against him under non-bailable offences including attempt to murder.
