Renowned singer Ali Haider, a prominent figure in the 90s music scene, recently disclosed that he left Pakistan due to serious threats to his life and family.Â
The artist, whose 1989 album Chahat featuring his cult classic Purani Jeans garnered him immense fame, sat with Ahmed Ali Batt for an interview, during which Ali shared insights into his musical journey and the challenges he encountered while living in Pakistan.
He revealed that escalating threats forced him to relocate to the United States with his family. Reflecting on the turbulent period of 2013-2014, he described the intense security concerns in the country at the time.
He also recounted receiving extortion threats and experiencing terrifying moments where he had to flee in his car with his children to escape potential danger. The mounting pressure and fear became overwhelming, and when an opportunity arose to move to the U.S. for work, he seized it and settled in Houston.
Ali also spoke about his personal transformation, acknowledging that he enjoyed partying in his youth—a fact his family was aware of. However, he emphasized that he always maintained boundaries. Over time, he made significant lifestyle changes, opting for a simple marriage and choosing not to flaunt his fame or wealth.
