Sindh Minister for Information, Transport, and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon, has announced that the provincial government plans to launch a bullet train service from Karachi to Sukkur.
Speaking to the media in Karachi on Monday, he stated that the Karachi Circular Railway remains the government’s top priority.
Sharjeel Memon mentioned that Sindh has received the highest amount of foreign investment. He added that the Sindh Chief Minister met with foreign investors today and that a $1 billion investment is expected in the medical sector alone.
He further stated that 50,000 local jobs would be created at the Dhabeji Special Economic Zone, which will also attract foreign investment.
The provincial minister emphasized that providing employment to the youth is a top priority and that the confidence of foreign investors in the Sindh government has been restored. He also mentioned that the cheapest electricity in the country is being generated from coal in Tharparkar.
Sharjeel Memon urged a foreign company to set up a bus manufacturing plant in Karachi to provide affordable buses, stating that establishing such a plant would create job opportunities.
The minister also criticized Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), accusing him of always causing harm to Pakistan. Memon alleged that Khan worked according to a foreign agenda and had previously called for civil disobedience, which included encouraging activities like money laundering and hawala (illegal money transfer). He concluded by stating that the founder of PTI does not want the country to progress.
