The Sindh School Education Department has declared a 25% reduction in the curriculum for the matriculation and intermediate annual examinations scheduled for 2025. A notification issued on Monday outlined the new policy, which stipulates that examinations will be based on 75% of the syllabus.
This decision was reached by the Directorate of Curriculum Assessment and Research, a division of the Sindh Education Department.
According to the revised plan, students in grades nine through twelve, across all disciplines—including Science, Humanities, Commerce, General Group, Pre-Medical, and Pre-Engineering—will be assessed on 75% of their syllabus.
Educational institutions have been directed to ensure that at least 50% of the syllabus for all subjects is completed prior to the winter holidays.
Following the winter break, only 50% of the remaining syllabus will be delivered, guaranteeing that by the conclusion of the 2024/25 academic year, 75% of the curriculum will have been covered, which will serve as the foundation for the examinations.
This decision was made during a meeting of a sub-committee of the steering committee on November 28. The committee concluded that due to the alteration in the academic calendar for the 2025/26 session, which will commence on April 1 instead of August 1, and with matriculation exams beginning on March 15 and intermediate exams on April 15, the syllabus will be adjusted accordingly.
