Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah has set an ambitious goal to enroll over 800,000 new students in Sindh for the current academic year.
Speaking at a program organized by the Sindh Education Department at a private hotel in Karachi, Shah announced that headmasters will now be tasked with planting trees within their schools as part of their official duties. This initiative is part of a larger strategy aimed at improving the educational environment and fostering community involvement.
The event, titled “Launch of Sindh Enrollment & Retention Drive 2024-25,” brought together key stakeholders, including the Sindh Secretary for School Education, UNICEF Pakistan Representative Abdullah Fadal, Chief Field Officer UNICEF Prem Bahadur Chand, JICA’s K Abid Gill, Director Operations NCHD Humira Hashmi, Chief Programme Manager RSU Dr. Junaid Samoon, and various district education officers.
During the program, Shah underscored the critical role of community participation in meeting the enrollment targets. The aim is to raise the number of enrolled students from 800,000 to 900,000 in Sindh.
Several proposals were discussed to ensure both higher enrollment and improved retention rates, emphasizing the need for ongoing engagement and support from all stakeholders.
