KARACHI: Sindh government will distribute ration among the poor, who have been facing difficulties due to the lockdown imposed amid COVID-19 from today.
A sum of Rs20 million will be released in every district of Sindh for ration. The ration distribution among the poor people will be released with the help of assistant commissioners of the respective districts.
The decision was earlier held in a meeting chaired by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah. Sindh Minister for Energy Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh earlier on Thursday confirmed the news by saying that the government would provide ration at the doorsteps of the poor people.
Earlier, the Sindh government announced to launch a mobile service to provide ration to the needy people affected by the coronavirus pandemic. The provincial government will generate a number that would be sent to everyone via SMS and deserving people can text the number for ration.
Coronavirus has claimed another life in Sindh, taking the provincial death toll to 11 and 35 nationwide. Meanwhile, the number of coronavirus cases in Pakistan has reached 2,441.
