KARACHI: The Sindh government has decided to replace the Karachi administrator after the federal government sought his services.
Sources said, “The Sindh government is considering three names to replace Iftikhar Shallwani as administrator Karachi. The new administrator is likely to be appointed within a week,” sources added.
The provincial government has also decided to change Dr Muhammad Sohail Rajput, a Grade 21 officer of the Pakistan Administrative Service, as the commissioner of Karachi.
Sources further said that in view of the political situation in Karachi, the Sindh government has decided to appoint his favorite officers by replacing the officers Iftikhar Shalawani and Dr Muhammad Sohail Rajput.
Consideration has also been given to change the Secretary Local Government. Roshan Sheikh is likely to be re-appointed as Secretary Local Government and Najam Shah as Administrator Karachi.
Shallwani is a grade 21 officer of the Pakistan Administrative Service and has served as the Karachi commissioner as well as the secretary of the provincial health and law departments. He was made Karachi’s administrator in September after the end of Wasim Akhtar’s term as the city’s mayor.
