Following the lead of Punjab and Balochistan, the Sindh Education Department has announced two-month summer vacations for both government and private educational institutions across the province.
The announcement came through a notification issued by the Education Department on Tuesday. According to the notification, the summer vacations are scheduled to commence from June 2 and will continue until July 31.
The decision to grant the extended break aligns with recommendations from the steering committee, reflecting a proactive approach by the Sindh government to address concerns related to the scorching heatwave engulfing many cities in the province.
Prior to the official announcement, schoolchildren took to social media to voice their plea for summer vacations, highlighting the challenging conditions they face due to the intense heat. In a heartfelt video message, one girl student addressed Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, expressing the difficulty of attending school amidst the sweltering temperatures and frequent power outages.
“Uncle Murad Ali Shah, it’s very hot outside. The children are going to school in the intense heat. It’s almost impossible to sit in the classrooms as there is no electricity most of the time,” she shared, echoing the sentiments of many students across the region.
