The Sindh government has announced a holiday on the occasion of the death anniversary of the founder of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and former Prime Minister, Shaheed Zulfikar Bhutto, as reported by national media.
According to details, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s political ideology remains a guiding light for the PPP. The Sindh government has declared a public holiday on April 4 in observance of the death anniversary of PPP’s founder, Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. A formal notification for the holiday has been issued.
It is worth mentioning that earlier, regarding the case of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, a presidential reference was presented in the Supreme Court, where the then Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa gave his opinion.
Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, while delivering his opinion in March 2024, stated that five questions were raised in the presidential reference. He remarked that Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was not given a fair trial and that the judiciary cannot move forward without acknowledging past mistakes. He emphasized that unless mistakes are accepted, the system cannot be corrected.
Justice Qazi Faez Isa further stated that the Supreme Court’s opinion on this matter is unanimous and that judges are bound to decide according to the law. PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari was also present in the Supreme Court.
