The Sindh Education Department has introduced a code of conduct for school teachers, providing guidelines on dress, behavior, and professional ethics. Developed in consultation with stakeholders, these guidelines aim to uphold the dignity of the teaching profession while reflecting cultural values.
Teachers in government schools are encouraged to maintain a professional appearance. Female teachers have been advised to wear traditional attire, avoid excessive makeup, and refrain from using high-heel shoes during school hours. Moreover, they should limit the display of jewelry to maintain a modest and professional demeanor.
Male teachers are instructed to dress appropriately, avoiding jeans and t-shirts while on school premises. The department has also prohibited the use of cigarettes, smokeless tobacco, and chewable tobacco during duty hours.
The guidelines emphasize respectful interactions among teachers, school administration, and non-teaching staff.
Educators are expected to demonstrate ethical behavior and maintain impartiality in academic affairs. Personal biases should not influence their professional responsibilities, and students must not be assigned personal errands. Corporal punishment is strictly discouraged.
