Sindh Assembly has formed a parliamentary committee headed by Sindh Education Minister Sardar Shah to investigate the issue of inter-board examinations.
Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar assured the House that would be no compromise on the future of children. He said, competent chairmen of education boards would be appointed soon.
During the Question-Answer session related to Cooperative Department in Sindh Assembly, opposition members incessantly questioned Parliamentary Secretary of the department Khair-un-Nisa Mughal. However, the Deputy Speaker supported her during the session, which began on Monday with Acting Speaker Naveed Anthony in the chair. MQM member Sabir Qaimkhani raised concerns about the absence of officers of the relevant department.
However, Secretary Cooperative was present in the officers’ gallery. MQM member Fauzia Hameed inquired whether any steps were being taken to revive the cooperative bank for loans? The parliamentary secretary said that she would get information about this and inform the house.
MQM’s Abdul Basit said that if cooperative societies are running on their own, then what is the need for the department? What is the Sindh government doing?
Khair-un-Nisa Mughal said that the government’s job is only to register the societies and ensure their election on time. In response to a question from MQM’s Mazahir Aamir, the parliamentary secretary said that if there is any corruption found in a society or any complaints are received, it is looked into by the inquiry officer and a decision is made on the report of the inquiry officer. In addition, if there is a major case, it is sent to the Anti-Corruption Department.
