The Sindh Education Department has announced that all public and private schools in the province will be closed on Monday, August 26, in observance of Chehlum for Imam Hussain (RA).
This decision, confirmed by a notification from the department’s steering committee, reflects the importance of this religious event.
Chehlum, which marks 40 days since the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his 72 companions in the Battle of Karbala, will be observed across the province with religious devotion and enhanced security measures. Mourning processions are scheduled to take place in various cities and towns to honor the martyrs.
In Karachi, the main mourning procession will begin at Nishtar Park, following its traditional route and concluding at the Hussainia Iranian Imambargah in Kharadar.
Additionally, the government has imposed a ban on pillion riding across the province on August 26 and 27 to ensure comprehensive security for the processions and gatherings associated with Chehlum. A detailed notification regarding this ban has also been issued.
