ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday has officially issued detailed verdict of its judgment in Toshakhana reference against the Chairman of Pakitan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Imran Khan. The verdict is signed by all the five members of the ECP.

In its judgement, the ECP declared that based on its findings, facts available on record and keeping in view the argument of learned counsel for parties herein, the ECP was of considered opinion that the Respondent [Imran Khan] had become disqualified under Article 63(1)(p) of the Constitution read with Section 137,167 and 173 of the Elections Act,2017, consequently ceasing to be a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan and seat becoming vacant accordingly.

The ECP verdict stated that Imran Khan made false statements and incorrect declaration, therefore committed offence of corrupt practices defined under Section 167 and 173 of the Elections Act,2017, punishable under Section 174 of the Elections Act, 2017. The ECP said that the office is directed to initiate legal proceedings and to take follow-up action under Section 190(2) of the Elections Act, 2017.
