Sialkot policemen allegedly kill youth in fake encounter

SIALKOT: Police Officer Muddasir Yaqoob Baryal allegedly has misused power and is involved in the extra-judicial killing of a youth along with several other criminal activities.

Baryal is currently posted as SHO Ugoki, a small town in Sialkot district. Along with ASI Murtaza Ghumman and other policemen, the officer is allegedly responsible for killing a youngster in a false encounter.

The protesting family members of the slain young man were attacked, women humiliated and dozens were arrested. The protestors only dispersed after receiving assurances from DPO Sialkot Captain retired Malik Mustansir Feroze that action will be taken and they will be given justice.

The incident occurred in Sardarpura area where Naqash Hussain, the young son of former councilor Ashiq Hussain, was arrested and later killed in a fake encounter.

The protesters have urged Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, IGP Punjab Shoaib Dastagir, and RPO Gujranwala Riaz Nazir to take action against Baryal and other corrupt police officers.

Baryal has unleashed a reign of terror in the area and is involved in a wide range of criminal activities. Street crimes have been increasing and the area has become a den of drug peddlers.

The video footage of policemen attacking the protesting families including women has worsened the atmosphere in town. Area residents are increasingly worried about the criminal activities of law-enforcement agencies. They have demanded to take strict action against Baryal and his staff officers.
