A woman was reportedly gang-raped during a road robbery on Sheikhupura Road in Sharaqpur, allegedly carried out by a group of robbers, it emerged on Monday.
Eyewitnesses informed police that 15 robbers stopped passersby for over three hours, looting mobile phones and cash from more than 20 individuals, Daily Pakistan reported.
Witnesses further revealed that three of the robbers assaulted the woman after stealing her belongings. The victim reportedly returned home in tears following the attack. Authorities have since launched a search operation in nearby fields and gardens to apprehend the suspects.
In September, a teenage girl was gang-raped during a road robbery near the village of Malik Rahmoo in Pakpattan, in the presence of her family. A Bahawalnagar resident visiting relatives in Pakpattan with his wife, son, young daughter, sister, and 17-year-old niece was attacked by robbers.
The assailants reportedly snatched mobile phones, car keys, cash, and gold ornaments before forcibly removing the women from the vehicle. The ordeal, which occurred in the Saddar police jurisdiction, lasted about 50 minutes, including 35 minutes of physical assault and gang rape. Despite the victim’s cries for help, her family members were unable to intervene or prevent the attack.
