MIRAMSHAH: Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed today (Saturday) inaugurated the first passport office in the North Waziristan, area of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
Talking to tribal elders of North Waziristan, the Interior Minister also promised the provision of two mobile vans of NADRA, “so that people in far-flung areas could also benefit from the facility”.
“We will be establishing passport offices in Angoor Adda and other areas of North Waziristan,” he said, adding that locals would be recruited in the passport and NADRA offices, besides also giving priority to women in the recruitment drive.
Sheikh Rashid further said that people of the tribal areas have fought Pakistan’s war and the entire nation was proud of them. “I will personally ask the prime minister for the establishment of a medical university in the area,” he assured.
The Interior Minister also supported the holding of jirgas while terming them as the best alternate for provision of speedy justice. Referring to other services, he said that internet services have been provided in South Waziristan and in the ongoing year, people in North Waziristan would also be able to benefit from it.
“We will be providing more funds for development in the area besides also simplifying the immigration process at the Pak-Afghan border,” he assured the tribal elders.
