Awami Muslim League (AML) Chief and former interior minister Sheikh Rasheed has expressed skepticism about the outcome of talks between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the government, predicting they will not yield any meaningful results.
According to a report by ARY News on Monday, speaking outside the Anti-Terrorism Court, Rasheed voiced concerns about the ongoing political crisis in the country. He noted that despite the formation of a negotiation committee, no significant progress has been made. He described the political situation as “extremely bad.”
Recently returned from Saudi Arabia, Rasheed shared that “everyone there prays for Pakistan’s betterment” and emphasized the need for stability and improvement in the country’s conditions. Looking ahead, Rasheed humorously remarked, “If negotiations fail, even after war, it will all come down to judo karate.”
Earlier, former speaker and PTI leader Assad Qaiser met with Speaker of the National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq to discuss the formal initiation of dialogue with the government. The two leaders exchanged views on creating consensus on national issues and reducing political tensions and confrontation.
Ayaz Sadiq told Assad Qaiser, “You convince your party’s hardliners, and I will convince my people.”
The PTI leadership has also requested a meeting with the party’s founder, currently in jail, with Qaiser noting, “We will further consult with him.”
PTI leader Shaukat Yousafzai, earlier, announced that a civil disobedience movement would be launched from December 14 if talks do not begin, criticizing government ministers for making non-serious statements about the negotiations.
