KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has ordered the removal of Acting Vice-Chancellor of Karachi University, Prof. Dr. Khalid Iraqi, from the post and directed the university to send names for the new appointment.
During the hearing on the contempt of court petition filed by Karachi University Professor Ahmad Qadri for not firing the Acting Vice-Chancellor, the SHC directed the removal of Prof. Dr. Khalid Iraqi and warned of contempt proceedings if the decision is not implemented within a week.
The court annulled all the decisions of the Acting Vice-Chancellor of Karachi University after January 26, 2022. Prof. Ahmad Qadri, who filed the contempt petition, said that despite clear court orders, Dr. Khalid Iraqi continued to make decisions.
The Sindh High Court directed the university to send the names of the 10 most senior professors to the Chief Minister of Sindh and to appoint the most senior professor to the post.
The Sindh High Court also directed to form a search committee for the appointment of Vice-Chancellor of Karachi University.
