KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday restrained local police from arresting PTI leader Shahbaz Gill.
It may be recalled that on Thursday had moved Sindh High Court (SHC) against the issuance of his arrest warrants in a sedition case.
The SHC today accepted plea of Shahbaz Gill, seeking immediate hearing of his case so as to get quashed cases registered against him across the province. The court also ordered police and prosecution to submit details of cases registered against Shahbaz Gill.
The Sindh High Court ordered not to arrest Shahbaz Gill in 3 cases registered in Karachi, in Surjani Town, Brigade and Rizvia Police Stations, and issued notices to IG Sindh and others for January 12.
This came after December 22 development when a district and sessions court in Islamabad issued a bailable arrest warrant for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shahbaz Gill in the sedition case.
As per details, the hearing of the sedition case was held in the district and sessions court Islamabad. The court issued a bailable arrest warrant upon PTI leader’s absence and rejected his petition for exemption from personal appearance in the case.
The former SAPM should be presented before court on the next hearing and submit surety bond of Rs 200,000. Moreover, the court adjourned Shahbaz Gill’s indictment in the sedition case till January 6.
