KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday barred Geo Super from broadcasting matches of Pakistan Super League 2023 (PSL-8).
For the most watched PSL 2023 matches, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) reached a deal with Pakistan Television (PTV) and ARY News.
After Geo Super began airing PSL 2023 matches, the Sindh High Court made its decision regarding ARY News’ appeal.
Geo Super submitted a low bid for the broadcast rights to the PSL 2023, according to ARY News’ legal representative Barrister Ayan Memon, and the SHC rendered a decision after evaluating the contract.
Memon stated that without broadcast rights, Geo Super is not permitted to air PSL season 8 matches.
He claimed that if Geo Super continued to air PSL games, it would amount to contempt of court.
Commenting on the PTV-Geo Super agreement for PSL matches broadcast, Barrister Ayan Memon said the agreement was made without the consent of ARY News Network.
Yesterday, Pakistan Television (PTV), which owns the PSL broadcast rights, made an agreement with Geo Super for broadcasting PSL matches. The agreement was made after the Pakistan Cricket Board’s approval.
