KARACHI: Shalimar Express, which was suspended due to heavy rainfall a few months back, has been restored with exciting discount offers for passengers, bringing relief to travelers who rely on this service for transportation.
The train resumed its operations from Lahore to Karachi on Monday, with a new route en route to Sahiwal instead of Faisalabad.
The Divisional Superintendent of Pakistan Railways, Athar Riaz, inaugurated the train from Karachi Cantt. A total of 907 passengers boarded the train from Karachi to Lahore on the first day of its operation. It’s worth mentioning that the train has a carrying capacity of 1198 passengers.
Pakistan Railways announced that passengers can enjoy a 20% discount on Shalimar Express tickets from May 1st to May 15th. Moreover, a 10% discount can be availed on tickets purchased from May 16th to May 31st.
It may be recalled that the decision to restore the Shalimar Express was taken on April 8th during a meeting presided over by Railways and Aviation Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique held at the PR headquarters. The minister had also directed the administration to upgrade Karakoram Express and Pak Business Express in line with the Green Line train.
