LAHORE: Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Dr Shahzad Aslam Saddiqui was injured in a knife attack by a police constable at Singh police line in Lahore on Sunday.
As per details, a police constable Rafique attacked DIG Shahzad Aslam with a knife over a dispute at Qilla Gujjar Singh police line in Lahore.
Acceding to police sources, the police officer sustained injury and he was shifted to hospital for medical treatment. DIG Shahzad Aslam has been posted in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police department.
The area police FIR against on the complaint of DIG Aslam. The police officer was discharged from the hospital after providing medical treatment. The police arrested the attacker and questioning and further probe underway, sources said.
Sources added that the police officer, however, admitted again at the hospital after suffering from a bout of low blood pressure. High-ups of the police department visited DIG Shahzad Aslam at the hospital and inquired about his health.
The main reason behind the attack could not be ascertained immediately; however, the sources informed that earlier dispute had erupted between the police officer and constable.
