Pakistani cricketer Shaheen Afridi has regained the number one position in the ICC Men’s ODI Bowler Rankings, a notable achievement ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Afridi’s ascent to the top follows his outstanding performance against Australia, where he took eight wickets at an impressive average of 12.62 over three matches. This performance allowed him to surpass South African spinner Keshav Maharaj, who has fallen to third, while Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan remains in second place.
In addition to Afridi’s success, several players from other countries have made notable gains across different formats. In the ODI batting rankings, Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan has climbed to 23rd after consistent performances against Australia, sharing the same position with Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto.
In ODI bowling, West Indies’ Gudakesh Motie moved up to 14th, while Bangladesh’s Mehidy Hasan Miraz jumped to 23rd.
In the T20I rankings, England’s Phil Salt has risen to second among batters, with teammates Jos Buttler and Nicholas Pooran also improving their standings. Among bowlers, Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga climbed to second, while West Indies’ Akeal Hosein and India’s Ravi Bishnoi broke into the top 10.
Afridi had ranked the number one bowler in the latest ICC ODI Bowling Rankings in 2023 as well.
