QUETTA: At least two people including a child and a policeman lost their lives and 23 others including a woman injured when a suicide blast targeted a truck carrying personnel of Balochistan Constabulary on Wednesday. The security personnel were being deployed to provide security for polio teams in the area.

DIG Quetta Azfar Mahesar talking to media said the policemen were being deployed for security of the polio teams at different locations. He said besides a police vehicle, two other cars were also hit in the blast. Two police among the 20 injured were in critical condition.

Azfar Mahesar said a rickshaw carrying 20 to 25 kg of explosive hit the truck carrying police personnel, resulted in the casualties.
Initial reports gathered by MM News revealed that a car passing through Buleli was also affected due to the blast, as a result of which a woman was injured.
Police said they have shifted 19 personnel of Balochistan Constabulary as well as 6 civilians to hospital.
Meanwhile, security forces and Bomb Disposal teams rushed to the scene and cordoned off the area to initiate investigation. Officials present at the site of the explosion expressed opinion that it might be the work of a suicide bomber.
