PESHAWAR: Seven personnel embraced martyrdom on Wednesday while five terrorists were killed in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in South Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces killed five terrorists during an operation in Asman Manza area of South Wazirstan district.
During an intense exchange of fire, seven soldiers were also martyred. Security forces are conducting a cordon and search operation to eliminate any other terrorists in the area.
Minister for Interior Sheikh Rashid Ahmed expressed deep grief and sorrow over the martyring of Pakistan Army soldiers in South Waziristan during the search operation.
In a statement, he said that the security forces would continue their search operation against terrorists in South Waziristan. He said that such incidents would not shake the resolve of security forces to resolutely fight the menace of terrorism.
He extended his condolence to the bereaved family. He said the morals of security forces are high and they are determined to neutralise such nefarious designs at all costs.
Earlier, security forces killed two terrorists after conducting an IBO after being informed of their hideout in Datta Khel of the North Waziristan District.
According to the military’s press wing, two terrorists were killed during the intense exchange of fire between the two sides. During the operation, security forces also recovered weapons and ammunition from the terrorist’s hideout.
