SHIEKHUPURA: At least seven people were killed and more than 20 others including women and children sustained serious injuries in a collision between a bus and van near Sheikhupura.
Rescue officials told media that both vehicles caught fire after the collision took place near Narang Mandi in Sheikhupura district. Relief activities are underway to take out the passengers of both vehicles and that many of the injured are in critical condition.
According to a spokesman for Rescue 1122, the accident occurred when two passenger coasters collided with a bus. He said that the injured are being shifted to the rural health centre in Narang Mandi.
Earlier on Sunday, at least eleven people including women and children were killed and four others sustained injuries after a truck overturned at Sangi area in Sukkur district of Sindh.
Rescue sources said at least eleven people succumbed to their injuries after a truck carrying the passengers and bricks overturned. The vehicle was coming from Lahore to Karachi when it overturned near Sukkur. The deceased hailed from the same family.
The bodies and injured were shifted to a Pano Aqil hospital for medico-legal formalities and treatment respectively. It may be mentioned that road accidents are frequent on highways due to over-speeding and negligence from drivers.
