Senior political leader and former National Assembly member Mahmoud Molvi has supported the establishment of a constitutional court, praising Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s efforts.
In a press statement, IPP Sindh President and senior politician Mahmood Moulvi said that Bilawal Bhutto convincingly highlighted the importance of a constitutional court in his address, which deeply impressed him.
Moulvi fully endorses and strongly supports Bilawal’s efforts for the establishment of a constitutional court.
Mahmood Moulvi stated that currently, the judiciary faces a massive backlog of pending cases, meaning millions are suffering from delayed justice.
He believes that establishing a constitutional court will, reduce the burden of pending cases on the judiciary, facilitate swift case resolutions and will provide timely justice to the people.
Earlier, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has blamed political leadership’s personal preferences for opposing the judicial reforms, including the formation of federal constitutional courts.
The remarks follow the government’s failure last month to pass a bill to amend the Constitution.
The government faced strong resistance from members of the opposition benches and allies as well over the proposed amendments, which compelled the administration to kick off a consultation process.
