The private organization Earthquake News and Research Center (ENRC) has expressed concern this week about the possibility of a severe earthquake in Karachi.
Speaking at a press conference at the National Press Club Islamabad yesterday, the CEO of the Earthquake News and Research Center, Muhammad Shehbaz Laghari, warned that the recent earthquakes in Karachi should not be ignored. He said that stronger earthquakes could occur between Thursday night and Saturday night; however, smaller tremors reduce the chances of a major earthquake.
Muhammad Shehbaz Laghari stated that they are accused of spreading fear and panic, but they aim to encourage the government and the public to take precautionary measures through early warnings. He added that they are being discouraged from working in their own country, while receiving encouragement and collaboration offers from abroad.
He also claimed that the Earthquake News and Research Center is the world’s first research center to issue early warnings for earthquakes, and evidence of this can be found on their YouTube channel EQQN.
