RAWALPINDI: A notorious terrorist was killed while another arrested by Security forces during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Swat on Wednesday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the security forces carried out an IBO in the Kanju area of Swat today. During the exchange of firing, a terrorist, Mukaram sustained severe bullet injuries and killed on the spot.
The military’s media wing said during the shootout security forces managed to arrest the accomplice of the deceased terrorist. The militants were associated with the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), ISPR said in a statement.
The terrorists were involved in blowing up schools and attacks on the security forces in Swat. During the encounter, two civilians were also martyred by the terrorists.
Earlier, security forces had conducted an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Awaran district of Balochistan, killing 10 terrorists involved in an attack on forces.
In another operation, the security forces carried out a raid at a terror hideout in the Awaran district and killed 10 terrorists during an exchange of fire, according to the ISPR.
Earlier in September, Security forces killed five terrorists, including a high-profile and wanted terrorist, Wasim Zakaria. ISPR informed that security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in Mir Ali where five militants, including Zakaria, were gunned down and 10 were arrested.
The media wing further said that Commander Wasim Zakaria hailed from the Haider Khel area and since September 2019, had been a mastermind of 30 terrorist attacks.
