On Day 4 of the second Test at Rawalpindi, Pakistan is facing a tough challenge against Bangladesh. Pakistan has lost their sixth wicket, with the score currently at 117 in 30 overs. Skipper Mohammad Rizwan and Agha Salman are the unbeaten batsmen at the crease.
Earlier on the third day of the game, Bangladesh posted a total of 262 before being bowled out, thanks to a brilliant 138 from Litton Das. Das, along with Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who scored 78, put on a crucial 165-run partnership for the seventh wicket after Bangladesh was reduced to 26-6. Pacer Khurram Shahzad was the standout bowler for Pakistan with a six-wicket haul.
In response, Pakistan started Day 4 on 9/2 and made a decent start with contributions from Saim Ayub and skipper Shan Masood, adding 38 runs. However, Ayub was dismissed by Taskin Ahmed for 20 runs off 35 balls, and Masood followed soon after, scoring 28 runs off 34 balls before being removed by Nahid Rana.
Pakistan’s batting woes continued as they lost Babar Azam (11) and Saud Shakeel (2) in quick succession, leaving them in a precarious position. Babar Azam’s struggle with form continues, having now gone 16 innings without a Test fifty. Earlier, Abdullah Shafique was dismissed for 3, and night watchman Khurram Shahzad was out for a duck.
On the third day, Bangladesh’s recovery was led by Litton Das, who scored a defiant 138, and Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who added 78. This partnership rescued Bangladesh from a dire position at 26-6, and they managed to set a target of 262. Das’s innings included 13 fours and four sixes from 228 balls, while Miraz hit 12 fours and a six in his innings.
As it stands, Pakistan has a lead of 129 runs and is looking to add more runs through Rizwan (38*) and Salman Ali Agha (7*) to set a competitive target for Bangladesh. Bangladesh leads the two-match series 1-0 after their 10-wicket victory in the series opener.
