KARACHI: The Met Office has issued a warning of scorching weather in Sindh province, with temperatures expected to soar up to 42 Celsius on Tuesday (today).
According to the Met’s alert issued the other day, the upper parts and central districts of Sindh are likely to experience hot to very hot and dry weather, with the maximum daytime temperature rising between 40 and 42 Celsius on Tuesday.
Karachi is also expected to witness hot and humid weather, with a maximum temperature ranging from 35 to 37 Celsius and 80 percent humidity. The intense heatwave may also affect most cities of the province, making it difficult for people to carry out their daily activities outdoors.
In addition, the plain areas of Sindh, Balochistan, and Punjab are likely to experience dust-raising gusty winds in the afternoon, which could further exacerbate the heatwave conditions.
Health experts have advised the public to take precautionary measures to avoid heat-related illnesses, such as staying hydrated, avoiding direct sunlight, and wearing loose and light-colored clothes. They have also urged people to minimize their outdoor activities during the hottest hours of the day and seek shade whenever possible.
Meanwhile, the Met Department has forecasted mainly dry weather for most parts of the country, but the southern region may continue to experience hot weather. Over the past 24 hours, the weather has remained dry in most parts of the country.
