The federal government has announced a five-day closure of educational institutions in Islamabad and Rawalpindi due to the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit.
This decision aims to enhance security as heads of state from around the world gather for the high-profile event.
Residents in Islamabad and Rawalpindi will observe holidays from October 14 to October 16.
For students, this creates a long weekend, as schools will already be closed on Saturday and Sunday, October 12 and 13. With these additional government-declared holidays, educational institutions will remain closed from Monday through Wednesday, giving students a five-day break.
The SCO summit, scheduled in Islamabad on October 15 and 16, will host various heads of state and their representatives.
To ensure heightened security, the military has been deployed in Islamabad under Article 245 and will remain stationed until October 17.
