ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa has given his opinion on the presidential reference in the Supreme Court regarding the case of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, the founder of the Pakistan Peoples Party.
The Chief Justice said that 5 questions have been raised in the presidential reference, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto did not get a fair trial, the judiciary cannot move forward without admitting the mistakes of the past, they cannot correct themselves unless they admit the mistakes.
Justice Qazi Faez Isa said that the opinion of the Supreme Court is unanimous on this matter, we judges are bound to decide according to the law. Chairman People’s Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari was also present in the Supreme Court.
After hearing the opinion of the Supreme Court, the court clearly said that Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto did not get a fair trial in the case, we are waiting for a detailed decision on the reference.
Bilawal Bhutto said that the court admitted that Bhutto’s trial was not in accordance with the Constitution and the law. After 44 years, history is going to be corrected.
It should be remembered that former President Asif Ali Zardari had sent a presidential reference regarding the trial of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, the founder of PPP, on which the court has given an opinion after 12 years.
