The State Bank of Pakistan has granted a nationwide microfinance banking license to Halan Microfinance Bank Limited, effective June 3, 2025.
It is worth mentioning that Halan, a subsidiary of MNT-Halan, one of Egypt’s leading fintech companies will now be able to expand its digital financial services across the country.
In March 2024, MNT-Halan acquired Advans Pakistan Microfinance Bank and rebranded it as Halan Microfinance Bank. The institution focuses on digital banking solutions such as mobile wallets, cards, and Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) services. It also offers business and consumer lending, digital payments, and e-commerce platforms, aiming to serve Pakistan’s unbanked and underserved populations.
Halan has been operational in Sindh since 2012, with a network of 19 branches supporting micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises. With a $10 million investment pledged for 2025, the bank plans to significantly expand its footprint throughout Pakistan.
Founded in 2018, MNT-Halan has evolved from a ride-hailing platform into a comprehensive digital financial services provider. It currently serves over eight million users globally, including more than one million borrowers, and holds a 25 percent market share in Egypt’s microfinance sector.
