The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) will remain closed for public dealing on the first working day of Ramadan 1446 AH, which will be observed as a “Bank Holiday” for the purpose of Zakat deduction.
Therefore, all banks/DFIs/MFBs will remain closed for public dealing on the first working day of Ramadan 1446 AH. The Central Bank will issue a notification in this regard in a day or two.
However, all employees of banks/DFIs/MFBs will attend to their official assignments on the Bank Holiday and treat it as a normal working day (except for public dealing).
The holy month of Ramadan is anticipated to commence in Pakistan on March 2, 2025, as the crescent moon is expected to be observed on the evening of March 1, according to predictions from the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO).
A representative from SUPARCO indicated that the new moon will emerge on February 28, 2025, at 5:45 PM Pakistan Standard Time.
