Saudi government in collaboration with charitable organisations distributes more than 200,000 iftar meals each day at the Masjid Al Haram or the Grand Mosque in Mecca during Ramadan 2025, a report in the Gulf News stated on Monday.
As per the report, Each day, more than 3,000 staff members and 1,000 volunteers coordinate and oversee the placement of 3,200 iftar spreads, which extend a combined 50km across the mosque and its surrounding courtyards.
Despite the vast scale of the operation, cleanup is completed with remarkable efficiency. Within just five minutes after sunset, all iftar areas are cleared and cleaned, allowing worshippers to seamlessly continue their evening prayers.
These operations are carried out in strict adherence to health and organizational standards, prioritizing the safety and comfort of worshippers in the designated iftar areas inside the mosque and its surrounding courtyards.
It should be noted that this Ramadan the Grand Mosque in Mecca has witnessed a record number of Umrah pilgrims from across the world.
