RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has temporarily banned the pilgrims entering its country to perform Umrah due to the on-going coronavirus disease.
In a statement issued today, the government is suspending entry to the Kingdom for the purpose of Umrah and visiting the Prophet’s Mosque temporarily.
In this regard, all airlines have been directed to inform their passengers to wait for further orders.
The move of the umrah suspension has been made to prevent one of the deadly contagious viruses outbreak.
The Saudi government had also placed a ban on the passengers who are traveling through a visit visa.
Moreover, Pakistan last night detected its first two cases of coronavirus days after Islamabad closed its land border with Iran, where 19 people have died from the virus.
The first positive case was reported in Karachi in a 22-year-old male with a history of travel to Iran where he has acquired the virus.
The virus has up till now spread to more than 30 countries, killing over 2,700 and infecting 80,000, mostly in China.
