Saudi Arabia has introduced new luggage regulations for Umrah pilgrims to ensure a smooth and hassle-free journey by preventing the transport of prohibited items.
The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has released a public advisory outlining restricted items, which include fireworks, counterfeit currency, unregistered medications, surveillance equipment, radar detectors, stun guns, laser pens, and concealed cameras.
Moreover, the ministry has provided guidelines on luggage specifications for air travelers heading to the Grand Mosque.

Pilgrims are advised to avoid irregularly shaped baggage, such as unstructured or circular bags, which may not fit in overhead compartments.
Fabric luggage carriers, oversized or excessively heavy suitcases, and bags with long straps or multiple buckles should also be avoided, as they may complicate handling and transportation.
To avoid travel disruptions, pilgrims are urged to review the complete list of banned items on the Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority (ZATCA) website (ZATCA.GOV.SA).
