A post-mortem report has confirmed that seven-year-old Sarim, who was abducted and later found murdered in North Karachi, was sexually assaulted. Sarim was reported missing on January 7 and his body was discovered on January 18 in a water tank of a residential apartment building.
SSP Aneel Haider stated that the post-mortem revealed a fractured neck, indicating that Sarim was strangled to death approximately five days before his body was found.
Initial investigations suggest he was murdered on January 12 and his body subsequently disposed of in the water tank.
SSP Haider also confirmed that a close relative of the child has been taken into custody on suspicion and DNA samples are being collected for analysis. Further progress in the case is expected once the DNA results are available.
Police surgeon Dr. Summaiya corroborated the findings, stating that the post-mortem examination revealed signs of sexual assault and multiple injuries on the child’s body. The medical report definitively confirms the sexual assault.
The discovery of Sarim’s body on January 18 in the water tank followed his disappearance from North Karachi on January 7.
