ISLAMABAD: The Capital Police on Tuesday recovered an unlicensed Kalashnikov from the custody of Ayaz Amir’s son Shahnawaz along with the purse and Mercedes car of the victim during the Sarah Inam’s murder investigation.
Police have already detained Shahnawaz for allegedly killing his Canadian national wife. Shahnawaz reportedly confessed to committing the crime and claimed that he “thought” his wife was having an affair with another person. Only three months of their marriage were spent together.
A purse belonging to the murdered Sarah Inam has reportedly been found at Shahnawaz’s house in Chak Shahzad, Islamabad.
Debit and credit cards in US dollars, UAE currency, and the deceased’s pocketbook were all discovered. Along with this, the police squad also found the Mercedes during a search of Shahnawaz’s residence.
The police have failed to recover the passport and cellphone of Sarah Inam, so far.
Another FIR has been lodged against the suspect Shahnawaz Amir after recovery of the illegal weapon.
On Tuesday, Court granted pre-arrest bail to senior journalist Ayaz Amir’s ex-wife and mother of Shahnawaz.
Shahnawaz’s mother Sameena Shah has also been served with an arrest warrant in this case, although she has not yet been taken into custody.
Sameena requested the court to accept her pre-arrest bail plea, terming the FIR “false and frivolous” and stated that she had no connection with the case or the murder. “But her name is being mentioned by the media that an application has been moved for her arrest,” the petition said.
