KARACHI: The fishermen on Wednesday have decided to reopen the closed channel at the Karachi Port Trust (KPT) after successful talks with the Ministry of Maritime Affairs.
Negotiations were held between the fishermen organizations and the Special Assistant To Prime Minister on Maritime Affairs Mahmood Moulvi at the KPT.
During the negotiations, the SAPM assured the fishermen of the fulfillment of their legitimate demands. After the negotiations, the fishermen decided to reopen the closed channel.

It may be noted that the fishermen were protesting at the Karachi Port Trust, suspending the movement of ships.
According to details, the fishermen started protesting at Karachi port from 2 pm yesterday and had been demanding that they be allowed to fish in Balochistan.
The federal government was working to end the deadlock. Two rounds of talks with the protesting fishermen were completed earlier with no breakthrough, but the third round remained successful and fishermen agreed to open the channel.
