In past interviews, Samantha Ruth Prabhu has shared how her battle with the autoimmune disorder myositis severely impacted her health during the filming of Citadel: Honey Bunny.
According to a report by Indian media, recently, Samantha Ruth Prabhu revealed that she even asked the show’s directors, Raj and DK, to recast her role, suggesting actresses like Kiara Advani and Kriti Sanon as potential replacements.
In an interview with Galatta India, Samantha discussed the challenges she faced during that time, saying, “I didn’t expect that a few months later, I would be asking Raj & DK to choose a different heroine because it seemed impossible. I felt like I couldn’t do it given the circumstances.”
She even went as far as to send the directors pictures of potential replacements. “I actually sent them pictures of Kiara and Kriti. I remember sending four pictures and saying, ‘Oh my God, she is so hot. Just look at her. She’ll be amazing in the action scenes. Please, I can’t do it.’ They replied, ‘We know them. You don’t have to introduce us. We know who they are.’”
Despite these health struggles, Samantha completed her challenging action role in Citadel: Honey Bunny and earned widespread praise for her performance. During the trailer launch event, her co-star Varun Dhawan praised her strength and dedication.
“I’ve never witnessed a co-actor go through such challenges on set,” he said. “You learn so much about human resilience and strength when you see someone battling adversity and still succeeding. Samantha inspired not just me, but also Raj, DK, Sita, and everyone at Amazon. Her commitment to this action-packed show is truly motivational.”
Citadel: Honey Bunny is the Indian spin-off of the American spy-action series Citadel, starring Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden. It is available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
