Pakistan’s left-arm spinner Sadia Iqbal has reclaimed the number one position in the ICC Women’s T20 International (T20I) Bowler Rankings, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced on Tuesday.
Sadia played a crucial role in Pakistan’s successful campaign at the recently concluded ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifiers in Lahore. She was named in the tournament’s Team of the Tournament after claiming nine wickets at an average of 16.
Her impressive economy rate—under four runs per over—matched that of her spin partner, Nashra Sandhu. Together, the duo provided Pakistan with tight control during the middle overs, playing a pivotal role in the team’s unbeaten run throughout the event.
“Sadia was one of the leading performers at last year’s ICC Women’s T20 World Cup and rises one spot on the rankings for T20I bowlers to claim top billing,” the ICC stated.
She overtakes England’s Sophie Ecclestone, who dropped in the rankings after missing her team’s recent T20I series against the West Indies. Meanwhile, England’s Lauren Bell made significant gains, climbing 13 places to reach sixth position overall after taking seven wickets in the series.
