A Russian naval flotilla has docked at the southern Pakistani port of Karachi to participate in joint exercises with the Pakistan Navy, according to the Directorate General Public Relations (DGPR) of Pakistan Navy.
Pakistan and Russia, historically Cold War adversaries, have significantly strengthened their ties in recent years, expanding cooperation in trade, energy, and defense. The growing partnership has been marked by regular port visits and joint naval exercises, fostering deeper collaboration and mutual trust between their naval forces.
Upon arrival in Karachi, the Russian warships received a warm reception from Pakistan Navy officials and representatives of the Russian consulate, the DGPR reported.
“During their stay, the crew will engage in professional discussions with Pakistan Navy personnel,” the DGPR said. “The exercises will focus on enhancing interoperability and strengthening maritime cooperation between the two navies.”

The flotilla includes the frigates RFS Rezkiy and RFS Aldar Tsydenzhapov, along with the medium-sized sea tanker RFS Pechenga. The vessels are scheduled to remain in Pakistan until March 18.
“The arrival of the Russian flotilla represents a significant step in maritime diplomacy, reinforcing security and defense collaboration between the two nations,” the DGPR added.
